While giving a talk during ICOIL – 2 at IIT Chennai on 14th February 2020, Dr. Kavita Rastogi presented the findings of her research on the Raji Revitalization Program. She also talked about the contribution of SEL in conducting the workshops for the Raji Community.

In her view, while chalking the Revitalization Program, one should not blindly follow the path paved by Western academicians who are of the opinion that the request for linguistic revitalization must come from the community. She stressed that in South Asian countries, communities are socially, economically, educationally and politically weak and suppressed, and so it is the duty of the linguist/language worker to create awareness among them towards the protection and preservation of their language and culture instead of waiting for the community to come forward.
