About the Language

Tulu is a Dravidian language spoken by the Tuluva community, by about 1.5 million population in the coastal regions of Karnataka, encompassing regions of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, as well as the northern part of the Kasaragod District of Kerala. It has a rich oral tradition, such as their unique folk-epic tradition known as paaddana, and cultural heritage. The Tulu script Tigalari is being revived at present.
