During her lecture, Dr. Pooja Saxena shared insights from her experience collecting words from the Kuchbandhiya language. She described the process as both enriching and demanding, involving direct engagement with native speakers, recording conversations, and documenting words along with their contextual meanings. To ensure the accuracy of the collected data, she emphasized the importance of cross-verifying meanings with multiple informants. Dr. Saxena highlighted several challenges, including the oral nature of the language, the absence of written records, and limited literacy among speakers. She also noted the difficulties posed by dialectal variations and the gradual decline in fluent speakers due to language shift. Despite these obstacles, Dr. Saxena stressed the significance of this work in preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Kuchbandhiya community.
