A six-day workshop on ‘Language Documentation and Dictionary Making’ was organized by SEL at Kumaun University, Nainital from 12th to 17th September 2016. The four-member team comprising of Kavita Rastogi, Sumedha Shukla, Vishnu Kumar Singh and Ajay Kumar Singh trained fifteen language workers to use the dictionary making software called FLEX. They were also trained on the methods and importance of language documentation and the creation of digital dictionaries. They were trained to write words of their native languages with the help of Hindi IPA. At the end of the workshop, each participant prepared a dictionary of Swadesh word list 100 of their mother tongue with the help of FLEX software.
