The Society hosted four lectures of members in the second series of For SEL, By SEL where in the first lecture, Dr Bipasha Patgiri talked about markedness and naturalness in Phonology. The second lecture was delivered by our new member, Sunita Warjri. In her presentation ‘POS Tagging in Khasi and NLP Challenges’, she discussed various problems related to POS tagging.

A language from the newly formed 5th language family of India, Tai Khamti was the topic of discussion in Dr Bishakha Das’s work. The status of Dogari, a western Pahari language was discussed by Udita Sawhney in her presentation. A large number of SEL members benefited by these presentations.
