A short-term workshop—Hands on Training on Linguistics Tools was organized by SEL from 29th May 2017 to 4th June 2017, in collaboration with Department of Linguistics, University of Lucknow. The aim of the workshop was to train participants in the basics of linguistic tools like FLEx, PRAAT and ELAN, that are frequently used in language documentation and during field work.

Dr. Kavita Rastogi, the Head of the Department gave the inaugural address while Prof. K Srikumar communicated the purpose of the workshop. Our resource persons were Dr. Atanu Saha, Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics, Jadavpur University for ELAN, Ms. Madri Kakoti, Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics for PRAAT, and Ajay Kumar Singh, Research Scholar, Department of Linguistics, University of Lucknow for FLEx. All 14 students were then awarded a certificate of participation by Dr. Atonu Saha and Dr. Vishnu Kumar Singh (Secretary of SEL).
