Dr. Nag began her session by highlighting the importance of research paper writing. She explained that beyond supporting academic advancement, writing papers plays a key role in disseminating ideas and research findings, thereby contributing to the broader body of knowledge. She also outlined the typical structure commonly used across various types of research papers.
Before starting the writing process, Dr. Nag encouraged participants to reflect on four essential questions:
- What new insight does our research offer?
- How can we determine its originality?
- What methodology led to this discovery?
- Do we have adequate evidence and a solid theoretical or methodological foundation to support our claims?
Despite the limited one-hour duration, Dr. Nag managed to provide a comprehensive overview of research paper writing. She also addressed important issues related to similarity and plagiarism, raising awareness among attendees. The workshop was highly beneficial for all twenty members of the SEL, significantly deepening their understanding of these key topics.
