Workshops on the development of sustainable economic initiatives rooted in the traditional knowledge of the Raji Community

We are thankful to our funding agency, the Keystone Foundation for giving us the opportunity to work with Raji community on the development of sustainable economic initiatives rooted in their traditional knowledge. On 31st October 2019, a five-member team of the Society visited Jauljibi to conduct a series of workshops with men, women and children. The first objective of the team was to conduct a jewelry making workshop with the Raji women. A box containing all the relevant material to make the necklace was distributed and the women were encouraged to make their traditional jewelry pieces. We also tried to convince the Raji men to make wooden bowls the traditional way but did not succeed in doing so.

The Story Writing and Story Translation Workshops were conducted with Raji students at the ‘Ashram Paddhati School,’ Baluwakote. The SEL team helped school children to write stories in their mother tongue during the first workshop whereas simple, interesting stories were provided to them for translation during the next workshop. Students from class 6 to 8 participated in the workshop and translated those Hindi stories to Raji language.
